Veternity, pet funeral specialist

Paying a dignified tribute to animals when they pass. Letting them go respectfully while giving them the same attention and level of care they received in their lifetime. This has been the driving force of Veternity since its creation in 1995.  This is the reason why the company was founded at the time, by a small group of French veterinarians.

The idea was to improve animal welfare by offering an alternative to rendering, the only possible option at the time.

Animal welfare is of increasing importance to pet owners and the group is evolving to respond to the expectations of families. It all started in France in 1995 and has now spread on an international level. In Germany, Belgium and Poland in the 2010s, then more recently, in Canada and The United States.
Veternity has been an expert for more than 25 years thanks to its veterinarian DNA. We have succeeded in convincing, uniting and growing. Many things have changed since our first steps. There is one thing however that has remained intact : our conviction that the animal’s right to respect must be extended beyond his life.

1995

A founding commitment to respecting animals

In 1995, 250 veterinarians from the North of France joined forces and means to offer pet owners an alternative to rendering services, the only available option at the time for pet’s after death care.

2010

Launch of funeral services for equines

Horse owners wish to access our cremation services for their equines. La Compagnie des Vétérinaires joined forces with associations such as ANIE and A.D.I.E.U to obtain changes to the French law. Our brand HORSIA was created.

2015

Our first steps around the world

With this experience, its expertise and veterinary DNA, the company exported its business model, first to Germany and then to other countries the following years, such as Poland, Belgium, the Czech Republic, Canada and the United States.

2016

An increasingly personalised service

Ever anxious to respond to the requests of pet owners, and to support them in their bereavement, the company began to offer personalized funerals allowing them to reflect and be present at the time of the cremation of their animal. Every year, 6,000 families choose this offer in France.

2019

Deepened engagement for the dignity of deceased animals

The company developed two new ways to pay tribute to our furry companions: Animorial, a virtual pet cemetery and Memorial Forests, allowing families to honour the memory of their companion.  The company pursues its campaigning to ensure that from a legal point of view a pet’s body is no longer considered as  waste.

2020

Sharing our experience and know-how

Each year,  the company works with nearly 30 000 pet health professionals in the world. As a historical partner of veterinarians and a specialist of Pet Funeral Services, the company now offers in France a complimentary B to C offer characterised by a direct relationship with Pet Owners. This new French brand is called Esthima. 

Furthermore, to enhance the international orientation of the Group and assert its expertise in Pet Funeral Services, La compagnie des Vétérinaires becomes Veternity.
